Join us this Chinese Valentine’s Day!
Commencing on the 7th of August and also known as the Double Seven Festival or Qixi Festival, Chinese Valentine’s Day is a popular celebration in Chinese culture.
The history of the festival dates all the way back to the Han Dynasty and according to legend, girls during that time period prayed for creativity to the god Vega on the night of the seventh day of the seventh month on the Chinese lunar calendar.
The most popular mythology however is about a cowherder and a weaver girl who can only meet once a year when magpies fly together to form a bridge that brings them closer. Their meeting happens to fall on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, and so was named the Double Seven Festival.
The day conveys rich blessings on each and every couple as they commemorate their love for each other. Like the old saying goes, the best way to someone’s heart is through food, so why not book a table at Dragon Castle to toast your own happiness and good fortune?
This week we’ll be posting all about the festival and its history as well as ways in which you can celebrate too- so make sure to follow us on social media- @dragoncastle100
